We love making patterns!
Remembrance Day Assembly
The kindy's took part in the school assembly for Remembrance Day by singing two songs. They also sat very quietly for the hour long assembly, watching the older students perform. Memorable moments were watching two of our students present a wreath from our class while the Grade 7 student knelt in his uniform to receive it before hanging on the front wall of the gym, as well listening to the school sing "One Wish" ... if I had one wish I could wish for you... if I had one gift I could give...if there could only be one perfect song to sing... it would be peace, peace to all... It really doesn't matter how many times you hear the children sing this song, it tugs at your heart... Wishing you a peaceful weekend and time to reflect and remember those that fought for our country.
We love spending time with our Grandfriends!
Visiting our Grandfriends always adds excitement to our day, and this past week was no exception. Our journey down the hill was filled with happy voices while the children chatted about all that they were noticing on our walk. The weather is often not super sunny or dry, but the children know that we are 'bringing sunshine' to our Grandfriends with our visits. This past visit we worked on decorating stars for our version of "Starry Night" (inspired by Vincent Van Gogh) to have on display at our art exhibition in the spring.

Our Apple Survey!
Mmmmmmm...... apples!
Toward the end of October, we had a morning activity where we would all sample red, yellow and green apples. Most of the Kindy's had thought that they liked the red or green apples as their 'favourite', but they soon found out that after trying the yellow apple that they actually liked that flavour just as much. The results were almost even! So many of my students love eating apples that are cut with my special cutter from IKEA... this cutter makes it easier for them especially if they have wiggly teeth!

"I Wonder"
This past week we had an "I wonder" moment together as a class. I showed my Kindy's the crayons that had been glued to a white canvas, along with a blow dryer. They predicted that the crayons would melt because the air from the blow dyer is hot. They weren't exactly sure how the wax would look, but some compared the wax crayons to candles on a birthday cake! Pretty clever for 4 and 5 year olds! They were pleased with the results, and fascinated that the wax would just stick on the canvas. Our Grade 6 buddies happened to appear while we were outside doing this, and commented on how fun it was to watch their faces while the wax was melting. A fun moment for so many reasons.
Hallowe'en
October 31st was a very busy day for my little sweethearts. They enjoyed rotating through Hallowe'en stations with the other kindergarten classes in the morning, and of course admiring each others costumes!
