Our First Pen Pal Visit to KB!

We loved wearing our gingerbread hats!

The middle of December we were invited to a nearby school to meet our pen pals that we will be corresponding with this year!  We were invited to participate in several Gingerbread activities together with our new kindergarten friends.  We had so much fun meeting other 5 year olds, as well as spending time with a previous classmate who had moved to this school!  We had help making special gingerbread hats by some amazing parents who had also taken the time to drive us to the school.  We also enjoyed other gingerbread centres which included a very special cookie decorating centre with yummy cookies that Mrs. Jones had baked for us!  Before we left their classroom we had a photo taken together with our pen pals.... some of us had photos taken by ourselves as several of the kindy's in both classes were unfortunately away sick, but we can't wait to meet them at our next activity!  Thank you so much Mrs. Jones and your Kindy's for the lovely visit to your classroom!

Our Special Grandfriends!

Our visit again to the Grandfriends was a special one in December... the children came with heart shaped art to give their Grandfriends, delivering to their rooms if they weren't in the dining room yet!  They were so excited about their visit that they scooted off with some of the staff to meet their friends as they came down the hallways!  We were excited about our project and it certainly didn't matter if you were as young as 4 or as young as 100, all had a special time together decorating stockings with sparkly shapes!  The staff, our Grandfriends and the wonderful parents that come on our visits all commented on how fun the activity was and how wonderful the children are during these visits!  The Kindy's are always so excited to visit their special friends and are disappointed when it is time to head back to school.  The first week back in January we will have our first visit of 2013, when we can wish them all a very Happy New Year!

Santa, Mrs. Claus and Their Favourite Elf!

Our afternoon after our Multicultural lunch was a busy one!  We spent time decorating our hallway, listening to Christmas music as well as making Christmas art!  We were super excited to enjoy a visit from Santa, Mrs. Claus and their favourite elf!  Thanks so much for the candy canes!

Multicultural Luncheon

The beginning of December we enjoyed a lovely lunch that represented food from at least 17 different countries from around the world!  It was so lovely to start the event with a parade of children set to the music "This Land is Your Land" led by Mrs. Khan.   Many of the children and adults also participated by dressing in special clothing from our various cultures.  We have such a lovely combination of cultures represented by our three kindergarten classes at our school.  Again the generosity of our families made this event possible with their gift of time to help set up for the special event as well as to provide such delicious dishes to enjoy!  Stayed tuned for another kindergarten event in the Spring!

The sun came out in the afternoon, and although it was a very cold wind there was a chance for a Canadian, a Portuguese and a Swedish teacher to take time for a quick photo in their special outfits!  The wind came in handy as you can see by the flag looking ready for the photo as well!

Our First Exhibition!

“My Silver Rocket Ship”
I wanted to create a silver rocket ship.  I made the rocket ship at home with my sister and it is so cool.  I painted the earth for it to rest on.  It looks like it is taking off into space.  I would like to go into space one day!

“My Yellow Rocket Ship”
I designed and made a yellow rocket ship with my Mom.  Yellow is my favourite colour .  I am the only one that will go in the rocket ship because it only has room for one!  I want to go to outer space, I want to see the stars and I also want to go visit my Grandma’s house.  One day I want to make a bigger rocket ship for my Mom and I!

“My Beautiful Castle”
I wanted to make a castle because I like Princesses.  My favourite colour is blue and that is the colour of my castle.  If I could build a real castle I would build it in a beautiful park, because I like playing in parks.  I painted the castle at school, and added sparkles.  My Mom helped me finish the castle at home.  I wish that I could live in my castle with my Mom and sister and that we could play there everyday.  I love my castle!

"My Princess"
I wanted to create a Princess.  I like Princesses and all their pretty gowns.  My favourite Princess is Sleeping Beauty, because she sleeps.  I chose pink, purple and yellow for my Princess.  I love the colours pink and purple.  My Princess has beautiful brown hair, wears a tiara and glass slippers.  She has a beautiful gown from her Fairy Godmother.  My Princess loves her dress so much that she wears it all the time.  I would like to be a Princess!

              “My Rocket Ship”
I made a rocket ship because I want to blast up to space.  I would like to go to Mars and visit funny aliens.  My rocket ship is painted with my favourite colours, blue, orange and gold.  I think that it would be fun to go into space with my brother Devon.  If Mrs. Petersson and Ms. Rossy wanted to come with us that would be fun adventure!

“Superbot”
I created a robot and named it Superbot, because it is a robot and it is super!  I chose red and blue because they are my favourite colours.  I love robots and think that they are so cool.  If I could go somewhere with my robot, I would go to the moon!  My Mom helped me at school with my ideas and my Dad helped put my robot together at home.  I love robots!

“My Sparkly Castle”
My Mom helped me to make a beautiful castle.  We painted it purple and pink because they are my favourite colours.  It has beautiful jewels on it.  I want to live in my castle all by myself.  I want to be a Princess!

“My Monster Truck”
I designed a blue monster truck with my Mom and my sister.  I painted the monster truck blue because that is my favourite colour.  My Aunty also came and helped me at school one day.  My monster truck has really cool wheels and flames coming out of the exhaust pipes.  I would like to drive my monster truck to Disneyland.

“My Airplane”
I chose to design an airplane that was red and blue.  My Dad and I looked at designs on the computer and collected boxes for my project.  My Dad helped make an amazing airplane!  It is called ‘Rance Air’ and it has my hand prints on it for decoration.  I wish that I could  really fly in the sky with my airplane!

As you can see by their smiles, they have had a fabulous time designing and creating their projects for the exhibition!  Many thanks to the parents for their willingness to help put their ideas into a wonderful project!
